MACME 2022
Airway Management & POCUS Training
Organized by Institute of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Madras Medical College, Chennai and Anesthesia CME Society on 24/09/2022 & 25/09/2022.

The aim of the workshop was to give hands-on training for postgraduates on Airway Management and POCUS. We had over 200 registrants.
Workshops
  • Airway Management – Fiberoptic bronchoscope, Video laryngoscope, Supraglottic devices
  • Surgical airway demo on goat’s trachea
  • Real-life difficult airway OT scenarios
  • POCUS stations – E-FAST, Cardiac, and Lung Ultrasound
Surgical Airway Demonstration
Demonstrated on goat’s trachea. Each delegate had 20 minutes hands-on training at each station. This was manned by Dr. Kathiravan & Dr. Balaji.
Difficult Airway Scenario
Delegates enacted a real-life scenario of a difficult airway in the OT setup arranged in the hall. They were later debriefed about the pitfalls in the scenario.
POCUS Overview
POCUS station was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Arul & Dr. Ganesh.
POCUS is a rapid, noninvasive diagnostic tool used at the point of care. It improves initial diagnostic accuracy and plays a complementary role to traditional imaging modalities. In POCUS, there were 3 stations:
  • E-FAST
  • Cardiac Ultrasound
  • Lung Ultrasound
